Beauty Standards

It was quite eye opening because I think all of us are under this constant pressure of looking perfect and being perfect, that pressure has worsened because of the presence of social media. Beauty is subjective and what one might find attractive may not be the same for others as it is different for everyone. But lately there has been a sudden need for everyone to look the same. These I believe could be due to 2 reasons, one because the algorithm of social media channels only focuses on people that look the same and also because everyone is trying to look a certain way because they want to feel pretty.
I think people have started to perceive beauty the way it is presented to us on our screens rather than real life. We have forgotten what real faces and bodies look like due to various editing applications and filters. Beauty is like art, it is subjective and each art piece should be different, that is what makes it special. I think in the process of being digital many lines have blurred just like the ones on real people.
We don’t see blemishes, wrinkles, scars etc on people online, no because they don’t exist but because online; people are in charge, in charge of how others perceive them and manipulating that is quite easy. So the next time while you're scrolling try to understand that what you see online is just part of reality , not reality itself. Keep that in mind and learn to distinguish from what is reality and what is not. It is a difficult task but to feel fulfilled with your own life, you need to take this step.
I would like to take some pointers from the video and end this vlog in that manner. You are not average, nor below it or above it because beauty is subjective and cannot be measured. This is not just me saying but there is research that proves it. So the next time you see yourself comparing yourself with others, just know that you are a beautiful person inside and out.
